Cuba

Cuba is the birthplace of premium cigar tobacco.  The agricultural, curing, and fermentation traditions that are used throughout the world today, were first developed in Cuba. The best tobacco growing area in Cuba lies in the western part of the island in the Pinar del Rio province, and within the Vuelta Abajo region of that province.

Honduras

Honduran Flag - Honduran Cigar Regions

While Honduras is home to its own variety of wild tobacco, Copaneco, it is also regarded as an ideal place to grow Cuban and Connecticut seed varietals for premium cigars.  In the southeastern part of Honduras, just north of the Nicaraguan border, lies the most significant premium cigar tobacco producing region in the country;  the town of Danli and the Jamastran Valley, both in the province of El Paraiso.  These areas are the epicenter of cigar production as well as a primary growing region for the country’s best tobacco.

Nicaragua

The story of Nicaraguan cigars is a dramatic one, spiked with crises but crowned by the achievements and endurance of its people. Today some of the best cigars in the world are coming from Nicaraguan fields, but it hasn’t always been easy for the vegueros and cigar producers of this small Central American country.

Dominican Republic

Known in the trade as the D.R. this island neighbor of Cuba’s has become one of the world’s most exquisite tobacco growing regions over the last quarter century.  Thanks in large part to the intellectual capital that arrived after the Cuban Revolution, an indigenous tobacco culture, and many years of painstaking investment and labor, the D.R. is easily one of the premier cigar tobacco growing regions in the world today.

Cameroon

The Countries of Cameroon and the Central African Republic produce tobaccos commonly referred to as "Cameroon", but more accurately called “Central African”.   Originally descended from Sumatran seed, today’s Central African varietals are known for their rich flavors and aromas.  The hearty soils in this region of Africa yield a distinctive tobacco which does not need fertilization and is grown under direct sun.  Consistent climate and cloudy conditions allow Wrapper cultivation without the use of shade cloth.
